Medicare Part D
If you are 65 or older (or is disabled), you may be qualified for Medicare Part D. Medicare
Part D is a prescription drug coverage offered by private insurance plans. To enroll in
Medicare Part D, you must have either Medicare Part A (coverage for hospital care) or Part
B (inpatient/outpatient doctor visits).
For Part D, you may pay a monthly premium for your prescription drug plan and you pay a copay on prescriptions and at doctor’s office visits. Depending on which plan you sign up with and whether you select brand-named or generic drugs, your copay may vary. For each year, Medicare beneficiary will pay a drug plan deductible for your prescription before your Medicare prescription drug plan begins to pay its share of your covered drugs. Medicare Part D also have what they called a “Gap” or “Donut Hole” which limits what the drug plan will cover after a certain dollar amount is reached.
